WHO WE ARE
John has owned dogs all his life but has a particular connection with German Shepherds. His current dog, Bess, is featured throughout this web site in dozens of different activities and should you take on John for a photography session, you’re sure to meet Bess.
The personality of every dog is as different as the humans that own them. Getting the dogs personality and character to show through in the photographs that John takes, requires time, skill and above all, patience. A photo shoot with one dog usually takes about two hours. But if we don’t get the images we’re after in that period we’ll keep going or even re-schedule the shoot for another day. Patience is the key and sometimes factors work against us in getting the right images on the day, that we sometimes need to do it again at a later date.
Most of the session shoots are on location. This could be your back yard, a local park, a nearby beach or even in a metropolitan city setting. We much prefer to shoot in daylight (rather than at night) and early morning or late in the afternoon are the preferred session times. Occasionally we’ll shoot indoors either at my studio or in your home but the preferred location is where your dog will be at his best which will be his favourite park or beach. John encourages you and other members of the family to be included in some of the images taken at the session. Capturing that special bond of the dog and his owner is always a ‘keeper’ but let John know beforehand if you or other members of the family want to be included on the day.
